COHOES - Gerald "Jerry" A. Nadeau, 73, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.
Jerry was born in Colonie on December 15, 1943 and was the son of the late Aime and Germaine (Bonenfant) Nadeau. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1962-1967. Jerry was a union roofer and became a self-employed roofer for twenty plus years before opening the Village Depot in Waterford, a diner/ice cream parlor. He was a maintenance supervisor at the Albany County Correctional Facility for 10 years, before retiring.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy (Wright) Nadeau; his sons, Michael and Marshall Nadeau; his grandchildren, Mickayla, Michael, and Amy Nadeau; his great grandson, Preston Nadeau; his siblings, Yvette (Andre) Grondin, George Nadeau, Dorothy (Jim) Gauthier, Donald (Kathy) Nadeau, Louise Nadeau, Edward (Ellen) Nadeau, John (Nancy) Nadeau, Joseph (Marsha) Nadeau, Maryanne Nadeau, and James Nadeau and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry enjoyed a good "prank". He had a heart of gold. He enjoyed cooking and making soup for family and friends and would do anything for anybody. He was our Macgyver, he could fix anything with a rubber band and paper clip. Lake Placid KOA family camp outs will never be the same. His call of family was a gift he shared with all of us. Jerry's joy, laughter, jokes, soups, all of this and more, will be missed.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet on Thursday, October 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
