Albany – Gerald O. Blais, 60, passed away Friday February 4, 2011.
Jerry was born in Albany, one of three sons, to the late Hildert and Mary (O'Hagan) Blais and was a lifelong area resident. He was educated in the Albany Schools and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Jerry worked for Ungerman Electric Inc. for more than forty years, most recently as the Head Electrician and was a very active member of the American Legion Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520, but above all he was a wonderful dad and grandpa who was always there for his children.
He is survived by his children: Ranee (Michael) Pierre, Aron (Stacey) Blais, Kimberly Garrity and Austin Blais, grandchildren Connor and Mia, former wife Ann Blais, brothers Michael (Pam) Blais and Archie (Cheryl) Blais and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving companion Kim Garrity-Blais.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church 607 Central Ave., Albany. Calling hours will be Thursday 4:00 to 8:00pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home,343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Interment will be in Nassau Schodack Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the military support organization, Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 111 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20850-5168.
