ALBANY - Geraldine "Geri" J. Alderman, 89, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing home, surrounded by her loving family. Geri was born in Athol, Mass. to the late Arnold E. and Ellen B. (Johnstone) Blaser. Geri loved working in her garden, cooking, reading, walking and loved listening to Christian music. She worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NENY (Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield) and Blue Shield of NENY combined for over 33 years until her retirement in 1989. She belonged to the Seventh Day Adventist Church – Greater Albany of Cohoes. In addition to her parents, Geraldine was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald R. Alderman; her devoted and loving grandson, John Flood, three brothers, Arnold Blaser Jr., George Blaser, William Blaser and Glenn Blaser; and her brother-in-law, Howard Pendleton.
Geri is survived by her loving children, Rosalie J. (Robert) Flood and Dorothea "Dottie" (Leo deGonzalas) Moyer. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Robert (Teri) Flood, James (Monica) Flood, Susie Flood (wife of John Flood), Cherie (David) Voss, Theresa (Don) Miller, Ellen (George) Manor, Mary Russell and Lisa Peterson and 15 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. She is the sister of Bettyrose (Clifford) Minty and Gwendolyn Pendleton.
The family would like to thank the staff at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home for all of their care and compassion to Geri at her time of need.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Memory Gardens, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church – Greater of Albany St. Agnes Highway Cohoes, NY 12047, or to a Charity of ones choice.
