CHERAW, SC – Geraldine May (Nitsky) Hamblen, 75, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Chesterfield General Hospital in Cheraw, SC. Born in Niverville, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Sanford) Nitsky.
Geraldine was a graduate of Albany Memorial School of Nursing, and retired after many years as a Registered Nurse. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her constant Papillion companion, Desi, crocheting and gardening.
Along with her parents, Geraldine was predeceased by her husband and best friend Gary Winston Hamblen.
She is survived by her children, Lorraine D. Orsini of Schenectady, Jeffrey G. Hamblen of Phoenix, AZ, Sheila A. (Michael T., Sr.)Kopchick of Cheraw, SC, and Geraldine M. Relyea of Naugatuck, CT; grandchildren Thomas and Mark Orsini, Anne (Chris) McCarthy, Kelsey Hunter, Michelle Tafur, and Kayla and Joseph Relyea; great grandchild Michael Kopchick, III; several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:30 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Inurnment will follow the service at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
