Guilderland – Gerard "Jerry" Kennedy, 80, passed away at Albany Medical Center on Saturday May 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fall River, MA and raised in Providence, RI, he is the son of the late Joseph and Teresa Kennedy.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he learned his talent for cooking. Following his service in the Army, he graduated from the University of Rhode Island and was employed by the Federal Highway Administration for 30 years. After retirement, Jerry was hired to work on "The Big Dig" in Boston. Jerry was a long time communicant of Christ the King Church where he served on the Parish Council, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and helped to cook for numerous parish events. He volunteered with Community Caregivers, Meals on Wheels and feeding the homeless at St. Ann's/ St. John's. Jerry loved to plan and organize trips and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and an avid golfer.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years June Kennedy; his children, Robert (My-Nuong) Kennedy, Kevin (Debborah) Kennedy, Kristen (Alan) McKinney; and his grandchildren, Patrick, Ryan, Kevin and Sarah. He is also survived by his nephew Kevin Kennedy, and cousin Terry Leary.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be celebrated on Thursday May 29th at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Albany. Calling hours will be Wednesday May 28th from 4- 7 p.m. at New Comer – Cannon Funeral Home in Colonie. The parish community of Christ the King will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
