NORTH ALBANY - Gerry A. Secor, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2018. She was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Matthew and Anna Halloran. Gerry was predeceased by her husband, Charles; brother, Matthew (Brud); son, Scott; grandson, Zack; and nephew Michael.
Gerry was an active member of the Sacred Heart School and Church communities in North Albany for much of her lifetime. Her many activities included the Altar Rosary Society, Girl Scouts leader, Sacred Heart girl's basketball coach, and a worker (and socializer) at weekly Bingo. Gerry was a big sports fan and an avid follower of Siena men's basketball, attending most home games and an occasional away game. For over twenty years she was a fixture on the corner of North First and North Pearl Streets as the school crossing guard. She was a member of the North Albany Legion Post, site of neighborhood reunions and other social events. Gerry loved animals and especially all her cats and dogs that she cared for over the years. Gerry loved to attend her grandkids' football, baseball, basketball and swimming events as well as school recitals, concerts, and award ceremonies. She loved funny (often silly) movies, Friendly's ice cream and the Orchard pizza.
Survivors include her son Brian and wife Tricia; her daughter Kelly Divinichi and husband Joey; her daughter Denise Pazderski and husband Jim; grandkids: Kyle, Stephanie, Austin, Taylor, Carlie, and Ryan; and sister, Gail Motala. She is also survived by nieces, Vikki and Debbi, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Eva for the loving care, compassion and friendship she provided to Gerry when it was needed most.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gerry's funeral Mass on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, North Albany.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gerry's name to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
