Gertrud Christel Stegel

Albany - Gertrud Christel Stegel, 85, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020 with her loving family by her side. Gertrud was the daughter of the late Ernst and Maria Boecker. Gertrud was the devoted wife to the late Charles Stegel, Jr. They were married 5 years.

Christel and her husband Charles shared many fond memories, listening to opera, participating in various activities at the German American Club and listening to German music.

Christel is survived by her sons, Herbert Liebenhagen, Jr. (Becky) and Michael Liebenhagen; Herbert and Becky's children, Herbert Liebenhagen III and Melissa Gibson (Robert) and Christel's great grandchildren, Xavier and Robert; and life long friend, Colleen Seeberger.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 from 10:00am-11:00am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189. A memorial service will begin at 11:00am at the funeral home. Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.

Interment will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
