Gertrude M. Cleveland

Colonie - Gertrude M. "Corkey" Cleveland, 93, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 when she went to the loving arms of Her Good Shepherd. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 73 years. Gertrude was the daughter of the late William and Ada Heinecke.

In the late 50's and 60's she was extremely active in the Hudson Valley Girl Scout Council, she was both neighborhood chairperson for the Maywood area and Scout Leader to Trailblazer Troop 276 for many years. She served for many years on the residential committee of the Liberty Foundation. Mrs. Cleveland worked fifteen years for the State Education Department. She will always be remembered for being a loving wife and mother.

Gertrude is survived by her loving daughters, Linda Cleveland, Kathaleen A. Cleveland, Deborah Cleveland and son, William Cleveland. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Cristina Scheid, Jill Campbell, Kimberly Mullin, Molly, Olivia and William Cleveland; and six great-great grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Campbell, Carly and Riley Scheid, Drew and Cole Mullin.

The family would like to thank the Emergency Room at Ellis Hospital and the staff of C1 for their compassionate and loving care.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, New York on Tuesday December 27, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm. Interment will be at Memory Gardens, Colonie, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 9:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gertrude's name to the Liberty Foundation of Amsterdam, 1467 State Highway 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
