Gertrude E. Devine

COLONIE, NY – Gertrude E. "Meme" Devine, 69, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2009 at home, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Marvin. She was a Capital District resident for all of her life. Meme worked for the former Standard Furniture for over 32 years. After Standard Furniture, she worked for Key Bank and, more recently with Target in Colonie. She enjoyed going to garage sales, and especially loved spending time with her family. Meme is the beloved mother of James M. Devine and daughter-in-law, Cindy Devine who helped care for her. She is the cherished grandmother of Lia Marie (Raymond) Gifford, Megan Lynn Devine and Danielle Melissa (Jayson) Harlow. She is the loving great-grandmother of Alexis, Raymond, Kathryn, Jamielyn, Jimmy, J.J. and Elsa. Gertrude is the devoted aunt of Michelle Nall. Also surviving is her very special friend, Mary Glock. Meme was predeceased by her brother, William "Wee" Marvin, her sister, Ethel Dube , her great-grandson, Michael Devine and her nephew, William Hansen.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Graveside services will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
