COLONIE – Gertrude E. Galusha, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 17, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Gert was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Rogers) Scarff. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Galusha and her brother, George J. Scarff. Gert was a lifelong resident of Colonie and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church where she was a member of their Altar Rosary Society.
Gert is survived by her son, Charles D. Galusha of Colonie; her grandsons, Charles J. (Jamie) Galusha and Nicholas (Dana) Galusha both of Rotterdam; her great-grandchildren, Joseph and Lena Galusha; her sisters, Mary Ardis Young of Colonie and Peg Greene of Albany; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Friday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Blessed Sacrament Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Gert wanted contributions to be made to Blessed Sacrament Church Building Fund, 607 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206 in her memory.
