Gertrude E. Snye

GUILDERLAND – Gertrude E. Snye, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 9, 2012 at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Gertrude was born on December 13, 1916 in Au Sable Forks, NY and was the daughter of the late Orville and Marie (Strunk) Smith. She was also predeceased by her husband, Russell A. Snye; her brother Orville Snye and her sister, Mamie Caputo.
Gertrude worked as a laboratory technician for the NYS Department of Health at the Albany Laboratory and also at the State Farm Road Complex. Upon retirement she participated in helping with their blood drives throughout the Capital District.
Gertrude was a devout member of the McKownville United Methodist Church and spent her free time as an expert quilter – most of which became gifts or contributions for worthy causes.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Interment will be held at Holy Names Cemetery in Au Sable Forks, NY at the convenience of the family.
