COLONIE - Gertrude R. Blessing, 88, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the Albany County Nursing Home.
Gertrude was born on December 12, 1917 in Troy and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Edith Bode Watson.
Gertrude worked for Freihofer's Baking Company in Albany and the Tobin Packing in West Albany for several years. She also cooked at Blessing's Tavern in Colonie, where her husband owned and operated it for 52 years until 2002. She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing the piano and singing.
Gertrude is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Edward G. Blessing of Colonie; her loving children, Larry (Eileen) Cramer of Schroon Lake and Pamela (Victor) Bruno of Sarasota, FL; her grandchildren, Frank Coons, Kimberley Coons and Jason Ressor; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services Wednesday 8:15 a.m. from New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, then to St. Clare's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (today) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gertrude's name to the Activities Fund and mailed to the Albany County Nursing Home, Attn: Business Office 780 Albany Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12211.
