Gilbert A. Hopper, 87, passed away Monday January 12, 2009 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late William and Sophia (Bauer) Hopper. Gil served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II and worked as an electrician for G E for forty-two years. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish. Gil traveled all over the world with his wife, Dorothea, who predeceased Gil May 12, 2007 after 57 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed 42 different cruises and countless trips to Las Vegas. They were avid square dancers and performed in many countries.
He is survived by his brother-in-law George A. (Janice) Eckhardt, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service Friday at 11:00am at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.).
