ALBANY---- Gilbert W. Baker, age 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 17, 2019 at the Albany County Nursing Home.
He was born in Yonkers, NY on November 29, 1919, the son of the late Hattie and George Baker.
Gilbert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Baker; his son, Gilbert W. Baker, grandson, James R. LaJoy; sisters: Grace Luft- Baker, Joyce Baker- Bonneau, Harriett Baker and Elsie MacGowan; and a half brother, Earl Stafford.
He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Carol and Thomas Sleasman; son and daughter in law, George and Laurie Baker; daughter, Debra Baker; daughter and son in law, Donna and Joseph LaJoy Jr.; two daughters in law: Lorrie Baker and Lois Munnelly; a brother, Thomas Baker. Also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gilbert's calling hour on Wednesday, June 26 from 1 to 2 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions in Gilbert's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 4 Pine West Plaza #405, Albany, NY 12205.
