LOUDONVILLE - Gilbert W. Sickles, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Gilbert was born in Cohoes to the late Edward and Ethel (Murphy) Sickles.
Gilbert was a Navy veteran of 26 years. He was employed by the Ford Motor Company as an inspector for 24 years. Gilbert was a member of the Shriners; Master of both the Masonic Evening Star and the Apollo 13 Lodges, and President of Past Masters Association. He was also a member of the Elks, American Legion, and Moose clubs. Gilbert enjoyed life to the fullest, especially the time spent with family, cruising the Caribbean, enjoying yearly trips to Florida, and other outdoor activities.
In addition to his parents, Gilbert was predeceased by his brother, James Sickles.
Gilbert is survived by his loving wife; Theresa (Grignon) Sickles, his children; Dawn (Stephen) Valk, James (Emily) Sickles, Lissa (Michael) Kaminski, Gilbert W. Sickles, Jr., Holly (Michael) Marsh and Renee (Paul) Connell. He is the cherished grandfather of; Matthew and Jeffrey Valk, Jessica, James, Justin and Mary Grace Sickles, Kristin (Marsh) Tripp, Michael, Rachael and Joseph Marsh, Ryan and Casey Connell. He is also the beloved great-grandfather of; Michael C. Marsh and Evan W. Sickles.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
