Gina M. Scalzo

Saratoga- Gina Marie Scalzo, resident of Saratoga Springs, NY died on October 23, 2014 in Albany, NY. She was 48.

Gina was born on March 23, 1966 in Utica, NY to her parents, Richard and Phyllis Scalzo. She graduated from Stillwater High School and worked as a cleaner for the New York State Taxation and Finance Division and then for the New York State Education Department.

Gina is survived by her parents Richard and Phyllis Scalzo of Colonial Heights, VA; her sister, Kim Scalzo (Lorraine) of Albany, NY; her brother Rick Scalzo (Cheryl) of Alburtis, PA; her nieces and nephew, Brianna, Julianne, Madison, Bella, and Gunnar; and her special friends Carl Caffelette of Albany, NY, Fran McDowal of Troy, NY, and Oto and Josephine Jones of Niskayuna, NY.

Gina spent her life helping people, doing anything from yard work, cleaning, and home health care, to helping family and friends around the house with whatever they needed. She loved animals, camping in the Adirondacks, country and western music, taking long bus rides, and traveling to see family and friends, no matter how far the distance. She was known for giving the best hugs, sending cards for any occasion, bringing coffee to her bus drivers, and just showing up unannounced to celebrate a special occasion and offer help without being asked. She was a generous, caring, and giving person who enriched the lives of all who knew her.

Calling hours to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 1pm to 5pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. All memorial cards may be sent to the funeral home at the family's request. All are welcome to attend.
