LOUDONVILLE, NY – Gino Louis Franchini, 77, left this world on October 19, 2008 for eternal rest, surrounded by his loving family, to be with God and his family in heaven. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Marino and Annunziata Franchini. Until his death, he owned and operated Franchini Bros. Painting Contractors for over 55 years. Gino was a true craftsman in his trade and enjoyed rebuilding his 100 year old home. He loved horses and the Saratoga Race Track as well as boating with his family on the Dolphin II and just sitting by the water. Gino enjoyed being a huge New York Yankees fan. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Gino leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Elizabeth (Pitts) Franchini to carry on his love and devotion to his family. He is the devoted father of Nancy (Joseph) Contois, Marie (Daniel) Davis, Deborah (Michael) Von Fricken, Marino (Mary) Franchini, Gina L. Franchini, Angela (Roy) Anderson and Steve (Deborah) Franchini. Gino is the brother of Lawrence Franchini, Cosmo Franchini, Theresa Scisci, Joanna Thomas and the late Joseph Franchini, Antoinette Scisci and Yolanda Russell. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Pius X Church at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Gino L. Franchini
