COLONIE – Giovanna Amalia Yavonditte, 92, of Colonie, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2006. She was born in Caserta, Italy and came to the United States in 1945. As a young woman, she played the organ in church, and also enjoyed playing piano. She liked to garden and had a special love for all animals. Giovanna was the wife of the late John S. Yavonditte. She is the beloved mother of John Anthony Yavonditte and his partner, Thom Hutchison of Rochester, Connie Gustas and her boyfriend, Richard Koenig of Colonie and the late Maria Christina Yavonditte. She is also survived by family members in Italy. Giovanna's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at St. Peter's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the staff of Community Hospice of Albany, for all of the care and support given to her during her illness.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
