Albany- Giovanni "John" Tirino, 85, of Albany, NY, passed away on May 10, 2022 with his loving family by his side.
John was born on September 6, 1936, to Pasquale and Elvira Viglione Tirino in Cervinara (Avellino), Italy and soon after the family made its permanent residence in Airola (Benevento), Italy.
John emigrated to the United States as a young man in the late 1950's and worked as a Mason for over 50 years. He was also an active member for more than 50 years in the Laborers' Union of North America Local 190.
John was an avid fisherman, a talented wine maker and a quintessential gardener. He enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family and rooting for his favorite Italian soccer team AC Milan. John looked forward to his yearly trips to his hometown of Airola, Italy to visit with the many cousins and extended family members that he regularly kept in touch with over the many years. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 215, the President of the Roma Intangible Lodge and a Founding member of The Italian American Community Center of Albany.
John was the devoted husband of Rosalba DeLuca, who predeceased him in 2006. John is the beloved father of Elvira Bournazian (George), Pasquale G. Tirino (Joanne), Rosa Maria Tirino, John L. Tirino and Enzo Tirino.
He is the treasured Nonno to David (Maggie) and George Bournazian, John Anthony Tirino, Erika Rose and T.J. Tirino. He is also held dear by his step-granddaughters Kaitlyn Stanley (Brian) and Jennifer Crawford.
He is the dear brother of Maria DeNitto (Luigi), and the late Antonio Tirino (Josephine) and beloved brother-in-law to Mafalda (DeLuca) and Salvatore Fazio, Armando and Juanita DeLuca, Angelina and the late Salvatore DeLuca. John is the beloved Uncle to many nephews and nieces including Domenico (Meghan) and Anna Rita DeNitto as well as Great Uncle to sisters Olivia and Julia DeNitto.
