Albany- Giuseppina Russo,83, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Giuseppina was born in Italy, Vitulazio to the late Luigi and Rosa Spiezio.
Giuseppina enjoyed cooking and playing "Scala Quaranta" with her friends and enjoyed her Friday night poker game. She liked spending time in her garden and also spending "quality" time with her family. Giuseppina came to the United States in 1960 and worked in the John DeBeer Baseball factory in Albany. Later she worked at Albany County Nursing Home until her retirement. Giuseppina loved people, but had a special affection for her grandchildren, Bobby and Brandon and her great grandson, Braxton who she loving referred to as "what's his name."
Giuseppina is survived by her husband, Andrea; son, Pasquale "Pat" Russo, grandchildren, Bobby and Brandon; great grandson, Braxton, sisters, Maddalena DiNardo and Maria (Liberato) Simeone; and loving sister-in-laws; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Giuseppina was predeceased by her daughter, Assunta "Cindy" Shields; and brothers, Antonio and Nicola
The family would like to express many thanks to the caring staff and nurses from Albany County Nursing Home.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am at All Saints Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Central Avenue, Colonie.
