Colonie- Gladys C. Tollerton,77, passed away at St. Peter's Hospice Inn on Friday, February 13, 2015.
Gladys was born to the late Walter and Pauline Rodzinka, in Utica, NY, on October 15, 1937. She graduated from St. Mary's High School, and then went on to Faxton Hospital Nursing School. In 1958 Gladys married Thomas Raimond Tollerton in Utica whom she met while at nursing school. She began working for Dr. Frank Chanatry in Utica before moving to Albany in the early 1960's with her husband Thom. She worked for a variety of medical practices for over 40 years, including Dr. Spitalny (GP), Dr. Ted King (ObGyn), Dr. Lempert/The Kidney Transplant Team, Drs. Ellman & Storm (ObGyn), and Dr. Paul Katz (TriCity Anaesthesia). Later, Gladys worked for Motorola before culminating her career as Office Manager for the Religious Sisters of Mercy.
She enjoyed ceramics, her daily crossword and a good game of pinochle. Gladys excelled at cooking and doting upon her grandsons. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her only son, Len (Patty) Tollerton, her loving sister Annette Rodzinka, and her beloved grandsons Connor and Jackson Tollerton, along with cherished cousins Roseann Grotevant and Joanne Beard, and several dear nieces and nephews.
Gladys is predeceased by her husband Thom, her parents, and her brother Paul Rodzinka.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Friday, February 20, 2015, from 4:00pm-7:00pm, with a memorial service to follow.
