TROY – Glen C. Walizer, 89, of Troy, passed away on Sunday February 15, 2009 at Julie Blair Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was born in Rochester and was the son of the late Edward and Bessie Walizer. Glen was US Army veteran having served in the European Theatre and earning a Bronze Star. He worked as a master mechanic for Latham Construction for 32 years, retiring in 1996. He was predeceased by his wife Edna Walizer.
He is the father of Peggy Jean Mero of Clifton Park, Glenda Walizer of Cohoes and Karla Walizer of Troy and his adopted daughter Anne Fearnley. Brother of Edward Walizer of Cambridge. Proud grandfather of Nina Gagnon and Peggy Fletcher as well as many other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday evening at 7:00 at Newcomer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm prior to the service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204 in memory of Glen C. Walizer.
