COLONIE – Glenn H. Smith, 83, passed away on Friday June 9, 2006 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Glenn was born on November 14, 1922 in Albany and was the son of the late Joseph A. and Georgiana Hamilton Smith. He served in the US Navy during WWII attaining the rank of Aviation Radio Third Class.
Glenn worked as an office manager for Alco Equipment in Albany for many years before retiring in 1985. He enjoyed life, his family, his church, music, dancing, and making people smile.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marion R. Brown Smith; his children, Jay (Maureen) Smith, Linda (Jim) Mastromarchi, Nancy (Frederick) Dignon; his brother, Steve Smith; his grandchildren, Eve (Lyle) Stoner, Jenn (Darryl) Welty, Dennis (Sharon) Smith, Kevin Smith, Danielle, Kelly, Greg and Timothy Dignon; his great grandchildren, Jeff, Ryan and Tim Smith and Keegan and Natalie Stoner and several nieces and nephews.
Glenn was predeceased by his sister, Betty Schermerhorn and his brothers, Lawrence and Jay Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church 63 Mountain View Ave., Albany. Interment will follow at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
