Glenn Pence, 88, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Glenn was born September 19, 1926, in Broadway, New Jersey, the son of the late Harry and Lillian Pence.
He proudly served with the United States Navy during WWII. He was honored with the Asiatic Pacific Medal, American Theatre Medal, the Victory Medal and was awarded the Occupation Service Medal. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #36 in New Jersey as a Master Mason; Tall Cedars Warren County, NJ Forest #14 and the American Legion Post #1040 in Delmar, NY.
He owned and operated Opdyke and Pence Petroleum, of Washington, NJ and Delmar Travel in Delmar, NY.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son, Thomas G. Pence.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife, Doris J. Pence, he is the cherished father of Mary Jane (Harvey Hoopes) Pence, Mel (Tom) Jones, Lu (Mike) Rock and Stephanie Pence; the adored grandfather of Glenn Jones, Dee Jones and Wil Hoopes. He is also survived by his sister, Lois (Stanley) Hahn.
Memorial Contributions to the City Rescue Mission 259 S. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202, or to the Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 in Glenn's memory.
The family would like to thank Dr. Maria Pesquera, Dr. J.D. Filippone and the Hospice Team for all of their care and compassion given to Glenn and his family.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be on Wednesday April 8, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
