Gloria Fraley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on September 14, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on August 10, 1934, in Albany NY, to the late George and Freidegard Otty. Gloria’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, dedication, and joy.
For many years, Gloria worked at the Loudonville Home for Adults, where she found immense fulfillment in caring for those in need. Her nurturing spirit and compassionate nature left a lasting impact on the lives she touched. After retiring in 1995, she embraced another passion—music. Gloria joined various musical groups and poured her heart into singing, sharing her love of music with those around her.
Beyond her career and musical escapades, Gloria found joy in the simplicity of life. She cherished moments spent tending to her garden, reveling in the beauty of nature during her drives, and exploring her creativity through ceramics. However, nothing compared to the love she held for her family and pets. Recent memories are particularly precious; Gloria was honored with a surprise 90th birthday celebration, surrounded by her adoring loved ones—an unforgettable testament to the warmth she fostered within her family.
Gloria leaves behind her cherished five children: Linda L. Dowen (Timothy) and their children Timothy Jr. (Deanna), James (Sarah), and Andrea (John); William F. Fraley III and his daughter Tammy; Charles J. Fraley (Sue) and his children Charles Jr. (April) and Christina; Susan A. Scaringe Jones and her children Mark Jr., Michael (Paul), and Aaron; and Gloria J. Herrmann (Craig) and their children Craig (Teri), Sarah, Jessica, and Matthew. Additionally, Gloria’s legacy continues to thrive through her brothers Larry (Kathy) Otty, Ron (Sharon) Otty, Robert (Fran) Otty, her sister Betsy Otty, sister in law Gerri Otty, her twenty great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her ex-husband William F. Fraley Jr., her son John Michael, and her brother George Otty. Gloria's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
We would like to recognize Albany Community Hospice for their wonderful care and support of the family and extend our sincere gratitude to Regina, Dominelle, and Julie from Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing for the loving care Gloria received.
