Gloria Whitney Frantzen

GUILDERLAND – Gloria Whitney Frantzen, 80, peacefully passed away on August 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.
Gloria was born on April 30, 1943, in Albany, NY. She was one of four children born to the late Harold C. Whitney and Merle (Rothaupt) Whitney. She graduated from Albany High School in 1962.
Gloria spent her early years working at various retail establishments including John G. Meyers and Denby's in Stuyvesant Plaza. In 1970, Gloria married her husband, Bruce Frantzen after meeting him at the Helderberg Lodge in New Salem, N.Y. They went on to spend 52 wonderful years making memories and raising a family together.
Gloria's passion was one of homemaker. She loved children and spent many years caring for them in her home. She loved the holidays and family gatherings, where she was the heart of the party. Gloria had a great sense of humor and loved a good practical joke.
Gloria is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce Frantzen; daughter Kelly (Jimmy) Parker of Suwanee, GA; her sons Bryan (Sherry) Mathur of Ijamsville, MD; Kevin (Shaye) Frantzen of Rochester, NY and Ryan (Justine) Frantzen of Clifton Park, NY, her sister, Pamela (Swede) Connell of Slingerlands, NY, 8 grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
She is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia (Raymond) Brickman of Slingerlands, NY, her brother, Butch (Mimi) Whitney of Colchester, Vermont and her beloved Cairn terrier, Misty.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m, with a service beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
