WATERVLIET – Granville G. Best, 64, died on Friday, February 18, 2005, after a long courageous battle with heart disease, at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy.
Granville was born on January 13, 1941 in Hudson, NY to the late Willard R. and Katherine Fingar Best.
Granville was a dental lab assembler for the CMP Industries in Albany. He was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Latham, the VFW Post 729 in Watervliet, and the Masonic Temple in Troy. He was a wood carver an enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Granville is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Carol A. (Harker) Best of Watervliet; his daughter Lisa McEachron and her husband Paul of North Granville; his son, Brian C. Best and his fiancée, Lisa Golden of E. Nassau, his seven grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Matthew, Ian and Timothy McEachron and Anthony and Jakob Golden; his sister, Gay Byron of Voorheesville; his brother, Wendell Best and his wife Pat of Speculator and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gwynne Best.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 9:45 a.m. at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 129 Old Loudon Rd., Latham, at 10:30 a.m. where a Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated. Interment will follow at the Gerald B. H. Solomon – Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
