COLONIE – Lee Mammone, 90, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011. Born in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Ricciardi) Vergura. She came to the United States at the age of nine and was educated in the Troy Public Schools. Lee worked for Royal Manufacturing Company in Cohoes from 1939 – 1952 and JC Penny in Westgate from 1957 – 1987. She was a longtime volunteer with her late husband for the Marine Corp League and Ladies Auxiliary at the V.A. Hospital. As a young adult she was a member of the Children of Mary and the Third Order Society of St. Anthony. She was the wife of the late Joseph Mammone. She is the devoted mother of Dominick Mammone and the late Joann Mammone. Lee is the cherished grandmother of Karen Mammone, Kristen (Mammone) McBride and Kerri Lee (Mammone) French. She is the adored great-grandmother of Nicholas and Kelsey McBride and Tyler Joseph French. Also surviving is her sister, Felicita Derenzo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Lee was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Vergura. Lee's family would like to thank the staff of the Ann Lee Nursing Home and Albany County Nursing Home for the care they provided to her during her stay.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 28 State Street, Troy at 9:30 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY, Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Grazia Lee Mammone.
