SCHENECTADY – Gregory J. Stuart, 66, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 after a short illness. Born in Louisville, KY he was the son of the late William and Margaret Stuart. Greg was raised and educated in Chatham, NY and graduated from Chatham High School in 1965 and Paul Smith's College in 1971. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 until 1969. Greg was in the food service industry for a number of years before he worked as District Manager for the Times Union from where he retired in 2002. After his retirement from the Times Union, Greg was a lab courier for St. Peter's Health Partners, retiring in 2012. Greg was an avid fisherman and classic car enthusiast. He was a loving companion, father, grandfather and brother.
Greg is survived by the love of his life, Barbara A. Guthrie. He is the devoted father of Stephanie J. Stuart and Seth G. Stuart and step-father of Andrew Guthrie, Patricia (Leonard) Deni and Denise Guthrie. He is the grandfather of Haley and Kyler Elston and Barbara's grandchildren, Frank, Jack, Sam and Gianna Deni and Chris and Dan Guthrie. Greg is the brother of William Stuart and the late Shirley Stuart and uncle of Ian Stuart.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
