Gregory's Life Song
The lyrics of Gregory Marshall's song began on November 24th, 1957. He was born in Richmond, Virginia to Eppie and Lena Marshall and is one of 10 children.
Gregory was educated in the Richmond public school system. He later went on to vocationally train to be a barber and a painting contractor. He was able to bring his entrepreneurial dreams to fruition in 1998 when he started the Marshall Brothers Painting. Gregory's brother died during the business development phase. So, Gregory made a name change and gave his sons second billing with the name Marshall and Sons Painting.
A reflective verse from his baby sister: Gregory's life did not begin until he relocated to Albany in 1982 and met his lyric, Glynnis Williams. They shared a life of friendship and love for 40 years; and a matrimonial bond for 33 years. Their love was built on enjoying each other's company, making each other laugh and raising a family.
Gregory and Glynnis were able to refine their parenting skills with "our first child", niece, Shaquira Wakefield and goddaughter Brittany Zusspan (Craig).
This prepared them for the blessings to come. They were blessed with 4 children; 4 children to call theirs, to love on and to grow with.
Ronda Marshall, Niara, Collin and Quinton love their dad beyond measure and will miss him immensely.
Gregory always enjoyed life to the fullest. Life for him was his wife, children, grandchildren and that Motown sound. He was a simple man with simple desires. If Gregory wasn't coaching his children in sports, he was on the sidelines in support. He escorted his daughter to the Cotillion; the quintessential dad and he was a cool granddad. He loved to spank his ride or die oldest granddaughter at Rummy 500. And he loved to cheer for his grandson on the basketball court.
Gregory and Glynnis have a total of 10 grandchildren. Nevaeh, Naomi, Dior, Quinton, Nae'Lani, Luke, MeLah, Ny'Lah, Niar and Rashonda. Some are just babies and may not remember, but they all were fortunate enough to have known his love, voice and touch.
Gregory was predeceased by his parents, Eppie and Lena; his brother, Rex and grandson, Nalon Billingsley. He was also predeceased by his Albany brother, Frank Turner, Jr. and his beloved mother-in-law, Alberta C. Wakefield.
Besides his wife, children and grandchildren, Gregory leaves to mourn his siblings Jackie Togan, Tony Marshall (Ester), Tracy Muhammad (Baylor), Charlotte Lucus (Bruce), Kermit Marshall (Katie), Kay Marshall, Janice Williams (Jay) and Lisa Harrison. He also leaves to mourn an inherited ensemble of sisters and 1 brother-in-law and a host of other family, relatives and friends.
