Colonie - Guido Cavone, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side. He showed great strength and courage throughout his illness. He was born in Carpeneto, Italy in1932 to the late Angelo and Maria Teresa Cavone. He emigrated to the United States at the age of 15.
Guido was a devoted husband of over 60 years to Maria Cavone. He worked very hard to provide for his family, and to instill strong morals and family values in his children. He was a proud Marine serving his country in the Korean War.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was devout Catholic and communicant of St. Clare's Catholic Church. He loved working in his gardens, repairing cars and was an avid Mets fan. Guido enjoyed listening and dancing to Italian music with his granddaughter, Mia.
Guido worked many years as a professional waiter at Keelers Restaurant, Larkin and L'Auberge. In 1980, he began working as a Supervisor at the Post Office, until his retirement in 1996.
Guido is survived by his loving wife Maria; his children Angelo (Carol), AnnMarie Banks (Matt), Josephine, Frank (Karen), Anthony (Annette) and Vincenzina Farry; his grandchildren Felicia, Matthew, Rocsanna, Frankie, Alysia, Nicholas, Colburn, Mia and Angelina and one great grandson, Creux. Additionally he is survived by his sister Antonia Raponi (Orlando), sister in law Teresa Cavaleri (Nick) and several nieces and nephews.
Guido was predeceased by his siblings Quirino, Joseph, Mafalda, Maria Francesa and Elfrida (who passed at an early age).
Calling hours will be held at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Ave, Albany, New York on Tuesday March 6, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday March 6, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Clare's Church. Interment will follow the service at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
