KNOX- Guy M. Marhafer, age 69
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Guy Marhafer, on January 9,2023. Guy dedicated his life to the open road as a truck driver, hauling cargo and fuel along the East Coast while also indulging in his passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a skilled and experienced driver, known for his dedication to safety and his love of the road.
Throughout his career in the transportation industry Guy worked as a truck driver and dispatcher for several notable companies, including ARG, Rist, Albany County and Keenan Transport. Despite the demands of his profession, Guy always put his family first, taking immense pride in his children and grandchildren.
Beyond his professional life, Guy was a passionate Harley Davidson enthusiast, owning several motorcycles over the years. He spent countless hours building a replica of the famous Captain America bike and rode it with pride for many years and many miles. In addition to his love for Harley Davidson, Guy also was an avid collector of specialty knives and axes, building his own targets to share with his children and grandchildren. He was also an enthusiastic model builder particularly enjoying creating intricate and detailed models of ships and planes. He loved sharing his vast knowledge of building and fixing things with everyone. Travel was another one of his passions and had a special affinity for lighthouses often planning his camping trips around visiting different locations.
He was born in Niskayuna, the son of the late Charles Sr. and Wilma Marhafer. He was predeceased by his brother Chuck Marhafer Jr.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Marhafer; children: Zac (Molly), Rebecka, Dylan (Rhiannon); grandchildren: Brayden, Lane, Caila, and Lydia; siblings: Charlessa Hughes, Rhena MacDonald, Kelly (James) Leggiero and Aaron (Rebecca) Marhafer. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Thursday January 19, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. All are invited to attend his Memorial Service following at 7 p.m.
