Slingerlands - Hannelore "Oma" Wager, 78, died peacefully after a long illness with her loving family at her side.
Hanna was born in Mannheim, Germany the daughter of the late Gertrude Berkman and Franz Ignor. She immigrated to the United States on June 20, 1956 and settled in Slingerlands shortly after. She has lived there ever since. Hanna worked for the University of Albany for University Auxiliary Services in food service and also for Camp Nassau for years. She enjoyed dancing, reading, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. Hanna especially loved to cook for family and friends.
She is survived by her children; Angie (Gary) Belcher, Maria Center, Hellen (Glen) Lavender, John (Donna) Wager and Linda Peacock, her grandchildren; Robert, Michele, Alex and Alicia Sanchez, Beth and Jennifer Lavender, Kenneth, Zachary and Jonathan Peacock, Cody, Tyler and Jason Center and Amanda and Joshua Wager.
Funeral services will be 9:15am Thursday from the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) then to Christ the King Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am. Calling hours will be Wednesday 4:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. The parish family of Christ King will gather at 4:30pm on Wednesday at the funeral home for a service of Prayer and Remembrance.
