Harland V. Taylor

SCHENECTADY- Harland V. "Skip" Taylor, 59, of Schenectady, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 19, 2008.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Harland and Florence Patrick Taylor. Skip was a lifelong resident of the Capital Region. He was a Crane Operator at General Electric Company for over 30 years, retiring in 2005. He was an accomplished carpenter after many years of working with Jubrey Construction. Skip was a member and volunteer at the Rotterdam Elks #2157. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating on the river and spending summers at his camp on South Bay. Skip was most recently enjoying the luxuries of retirement such as gardening, odd projects with friends, afternoon naps, spending lots of time with his family. Skip's most cherished gift was the joy of his loving daughters and his grandsons.
He is the beloved father of Nicole Taylor-Martell and Wendy Nixon. He is the grandfather of Ronald Martell and Zaine Austin Rhodes. Skip is the brother of Susan Taylor, John Taylor and the late David Taylor. He is the uncle of Tracy and Melissa Taylor. He is the lifelong friend of Ednamay Lester and the brother in law of Karen Taylor. Skip is the companion of Diane Kingsbury. He is also survived by many dear friends.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 11:00 at Newcomer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorys Garden.
Skip will be sorely missed by family, friends, and loved ones.
