COLONIE – Harold E. "Ike" Belles, 81, of Colonie, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2007. He was a World War II Navy veteran from 1943 through 1946 serving aboard the U.S.S. McNulty. Mr. Belles retired from the New York State Dept. of Audit & Control after twenty five years. He was a member of the American Cribbage Congress, Lishakill Senior Citizens, St. Francis de Sales Senior Citizens and Northeastern Woodworkers Association. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Colonie. Harold is the beloved husband of 56 years to Marilyn L. (Amsler) Belles. He is the devoted father of Paul Belles and his wife, Gail of Averill Park, Greg Belles and his wife, Diana of Cary, NC and the late Ronald E. Belles and Patricia A. Bowles. Harold is the devoted grandfather of Michaela, Daniel and Nicholas Belles, Angie Francis and Lindsay Belles, Sarah, Theodore and Nathaniel Belles and Jennifer Bowles. He is the loving great-grandfather of Meya Francis. He is the father-in-law of Mary Jo Belles of Loudonville and George Bowles of Guilderland; brother-in-law of Kenneth Amsler. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by his brothers, Edwin and Garrett Belles.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning at 11:00 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00p.m.at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to Our Lady of Mercy Food Pantry, 26 Wilson Ave., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Harold Belles.
