Harold Clark

COLONIE – Harold Veree Clark, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 09, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Cooperstown, NY on September 19, 1925, he was the second son of Harris and Lillian Clark. Harold graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1942 and entered the United States Air Force in October of 1943. He became a radar bombardier instructor on the B-29 super fortress while stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, LA. Discharged in 1946, Harold and his wife of 60 plus years, Joan Marie Veitch were married on June 18, 1949 in Cooperstown. He graduated from Paul Smith's College in 1952 with a liberal arts degree and then from Tri-State College in 1953 with a B.S. in civil engineering. Harold was selected to appear in the 1953-1954 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges from Tri-State College. He worked for Michael Baker Jr. (consulting engineers) in Harrisburg, PA, was assistant city engineer in Fulton, NY and worked for Keis & Holyrod before going to work for J.H. Maloy, Inc. in Loudonville. Harold retired in 1992 after thirty-five years of dedicated service. Harold and Joan were avid golfers, playing in Bermuda, Maui, the Pacific Northwest, Scotland, England and several courses in the States. They were members of Shaker Ridge Country Club since 1978. Harold was a member of the Niskayuna Reformed Church and a member of the Otsego Lodge 138 F.&A.M. for over sixty years. Harold is survived by his wife, Joan; three children, Cynthia of Niskayuna, Bradley of Burnt Hills and James of Colonie; grandchildren, Abigail, Megan, Matthew, Carly, Catherine, James and Brian and a great-grandchild, Jennifer. Also surviving is his brother, Robert Clark of Cooperstown, NY, his sister, Lucille Roberts of Spearfish, SD and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Niskayuna Reformed Church, Niskayuna. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Pinegrove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Niskayuna Reformed Church Building Fund.
