SCOTIA – Harold "Duke" DuPont, 75, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of Alexis Caisse and Alfred DuPont.
Duke worked for Mid State Industry, Local 83 Sheet Metal Workers' Union, and then later in life was self-employed. He retired after 45 years in the business. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, going to the casino, but his favorite thing was spending time with his grandchildren and nephews. Duke was a member and Assistant Chief of the Scotia Fire Department and Moose Club.
Along with his parents, Duke was predeceased by his siblings, Alfred and Richard DuPont, Marion Muscanell, Clara Lautenbach and Irene Lacy.
He will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 53 years, Rachel Gosselin DuPont; daughter Donna Marie DuPont Johndrow (Donald) of Scotia; sisters Helen Ford and Alice Kress; beloved grandchildren Derek Johndrow and David Johndrow, and several nieces, nephew and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
