Harold "Hal" D. Howarth

Harold “Hal” D. Howarth, age 74, passed away at his residence on August 15, 2024 surrounded by family.

He was born in Queens, NY, the son of the late Harold Steven Howarth and Maria Irirazorie Howarth. He was also predeceased by his brother Edward Zahn Howarth.

Hal was a 1974 graduate of St. John’s University and a graduate of the University at Albany. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, serving in the Army, Navy and Air Force. He was employed by the United Nations as a security officer and he retired as a history teacher at BOCES.

He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the VFW.

He enjoyed reading, traveling and volunteering with the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Hal is survived by his wife Electa Howarth; his son Jeffrey Howarth; two step sons: Robert Hicks and Bryant Harris. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Thursday August 22, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. All are invited to attend his funeral service at the funeral home following at 12 Noon. Interment with full military honors will follow at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871 at 2:30 p.m.
