GUILDERLAND – Harold James Draper, 86, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Detroit, MI he was the son of the late Alexander and Roselle Draper. Mr. Draper was a truck driver for all of his life, retiring from Pacific Molasses Trucking. After his retirement, Harold drove a Medicab van and then worked for Sam's Club as a greeter. He enjoyed camping and fishing. Harold was a real people person, making friends with everyone he came in contact with. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor D. Draper. Harold is the cherished father of James (Cindy) Kemp, Patricia Draper, and the late Dorothy Savery and James Draper. He is the devoted grandfather of Eleanor (Michael) Frederico, Chuck (Rebecca) Kemp, Cathy (Glenn) Bradt, Mike Kemp, Timothy Savery, Dawn Savery, Jayson (Karisa) Richardson, Tanya (Frank) Starker and Christopher (Danielle) Bikowitz. Harold is the loving great-grandfather of Carole, Victoria, Andrew, Alex (Nadia), Matthew, Jacob C., Jonathan, Samantha, Jacob A., Gabrielle, Addisyn, Chase, Quinn and Ethan and the adored great-great-grandfather of Jennalyse and Arie. Harold is the brother of Marion (Chip) Saunders, Edward (Eleanor) Draper and the late Charles and Richard Draper. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Agnes and Myrle Draper and his longtime close friends, Peggy and Alan Brown. Harold's family would like to thank the staff at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home and Community Hospice for all of the loving care and compassion they gave to him.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
