Levy, Harold P. (Hal)

TROY - Harold P. (Hal) Levy, 78, died Friday, August 2, 2024. He passed away peacefully surrounded by love. 

Hal was born in Elizabeth City, NC and moved to Sea Girt, NJ with his family upon his father’s death in 1958. He received his Bachelor (1968) and Master of Science (1969) degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY. After college, he worked for Burroughs Corp. and for himself until 1985, and spent the remainder of his working career with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) in Albany, retiring in 2009.

 Hal took immense pleasure and pride in his family, whom he loved very much, and enjoyed frequent trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1973 and remained active in the public ministry and Bible education work until his death. He was known for his kindness, calm demeanor, and wonderful sense of humor, and always displayed a great joy of life and interest in the world around him.

Hal is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Paula Brockway Levy, his son, Stephen B. Levy (Julie) of Albany, NY, and his daughter, Joanna R. Cramer (David) and grandchildren Elizabeth and Benjamin of West Sand Lake, NY. He is also survived by his brother, Donald R. Levy, Jr. (Paula) of Fredericksburg, VA, his wife’s two sisters Judy and Lynne and their families, and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his parents Donald R. Levy in 1958 and Anne P. Gesregen in 1987, and his sister Patricia Raymond in 2022.

 Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at New Comer Funeral Home, located at 181 Troy Schenectady Road in Watervliet, NY. 

Friends and family are warmly invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8878 Route 66, Averill Park, NY. 

In lieu of flowers, a contribution in his memory may be sent to the Averill Park Cong. of Jehovah’s Witnesses, PO Box 845, Averill Park, NY 12018, or to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
