Harold Schaeffer

COLONIE – Harold J. Schaeffer, 94, of Colonie, passed away on Thursday May 25, 2006 at St. Clare's Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Schoharie County and was the son of the late Joseph and Lena Safford Schaeffer. Harold was predeceased in 1992 by his beloved wife, Blanche Schartrand Schaeffer.
He was a machinist at the General Electric Company for 36 years. Mr. Schaeffer was a talented craftsman and drawing enthusiast. He enjoyed woodworking, creating miniature furniture and gardening.
He is the devoted father of H. Lee Schaeffer (Susan), Diane Meo (Louis), Paul D. Schaeffer, Celia Sorrell (Andrew) and Carol M. Schaeffer. He is the brother of Carl Schaeffer. He is the cherished grandfather of Amy and Carrie Schaeffer, Jeffrey Sorrell, Jason Sorrell and Samantha Schaeffer; great grandfather of Derek and Joshua Carter and Madison Schaeffer.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Newcomerfamily.com
