GUILDERLAND – Harold "Mickey" McGloine, 69, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Harry V. McGloine, Sr. and Mary Dwyer McGloine.
Mickey worked for and retired from the Department of State after 37 years. He liked to work around the yard, where he grew Morning Glories every year. Mickey liked constructing sheds and fencing. He enjoyed walking around Lake George Village and Saratoga. He was fond of traveling to Auriesville Shrine, Cape Cod and Myrtle Beach.
Mickey was the hub that kept the family and cousins together by keeping in touch. He was the best brother in the world. Mickey maintained a POSITIVE, upbeat attitude and keen sense of humor despite suffering many complications of Juvenile Diabetes for 66 years. Mickey loved life.
Mickey will be greatly missed by his brother, Harry V. McGloine, Jr; wonderful niece Dedré Peterson and many great cousins.
Along with his parents, Mickey also joins his loving niece, Heidi McVeigh, in Heaven.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Avenue, Guilderland, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 6 Greenwood Drive, East Greenbush, NY 12061 in Mickey's name.
