ALBANY - Haroldeen 'Dee' A. Van Wormer passed away October 12, 2021 at the age of 91 at The Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, NY.
Haroldeen was born in Henderson, NY, the second of ten children to Harold and Monica (Montague) Vincent September 27, 1930. In 1951 Dee married William F. Van Wormer and they had two sons. Besides being a homemaker Dee worked as an aide and a bus driver in the Schodack Central School System.
She was pre-deceased by many close to her during her lifetime including her husband in 2006, and her son, William K. Van Wormer in 2015, as well as eight of her nine siblings, Patricia Wigand, John (Dale) Vincent, Berley (Diane) Vincent, James Vincent, Elaine Zlotnick, Gladys Czajkowski, Paul H. Vincent, and Allen M. Vincent.
Dee took up volunteer work and in 2008 she became a well-known and revered volunteer in the Albany International Airport Ambassador program where she received the top earner award for volunteer hours for five straight years totaling over 5000 hours served. Dee was very social with a sharp mind and wit. She loved to travel and attend family gatherings as well as local music and entertainment whenever given the chance.
She is survived by her beloved sister Paula (Gerald) Schwab, her beloved son Charles M. Van Wormer (Erin Bazinet), her beloved nephew Charles Harris, close friends, Sheila and Vinny Giordano, and Barbara Hannson. She is also survived by three grandchildren whom she loved dearly, five great-grand-children, dozens of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Hours of visitation will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie on Tuesday, October 19th from 4-6pm with a prayer service immediately following at 6 pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.NewComerAlbany.com
