Colonie- Harry A. Kerker, 81, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital, after a brief illness. Born at Albany Memorial Hospital, Harry grew up in Castleton and Rensselaer. He was the son of the late John Jay and Henrietta Mae (Bladoe) Kerker. Harry married Mary A. Amitrano of Middletown and moved to Colonie where he resided until his death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stationed at Stewart Field at West Point and serving his country in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Harry worked as an Equipment Operator for Niagara Mohawk for 38 years. He was a member of the Niagara Mohawk 25 year Club and the Pensioners Club, and also the VFW. Harry was an avid bowler and golfer. Harry is predeceased by his son Donald J. Kerker and his brother John Kerker.
Harry leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 57 years Mary A. Kerker; his sons Harry J. Kerker (Janis) of La Canada, CA, Richard J. Kerker (Barbara) of Charlton, and Robert A. Kerker (Valerie) of Glenville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Schuyler Anne Kerker, Holland Belle Kerker, Hudson James Kerker and Ashley Lynn Kerker, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Colonie where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Colonie EMS Benevolent Association, P.O. Box 11076, Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Harry A. Kerker.
