Rotterdam- Harry Dennis, 83, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2006 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Buckner, IL, he was the son of the late Wasil and Mary Dynis. Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during WWII as a Tec5 in the 2nd Signal Service Battalion. Following his military service Harry went on to work for CMP Industries until his retirement. After retiring he went on to work for the Town of Guilderland Transfer Station. He was a member of the Town of Guilderland Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years, and also a communicant of Christ the King Church. Harry is predeceased by his brother Joseph Dennis and his sister Helen Hitterman.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Lorraine Dennis, his six children, Denise (John) Travison, Harold (Nicole) Dennis, Nancy (Christopher) Ewart, Michael (Julia) Dennis, Mary (Bob) Barrera, George (Maureen) Dennis, his 14 grandchildren, Alicia, Zachary, Joshua, Jason, Caresse, Kimberly, Christian, Karisa, Matty, Scott, Eric, Lauren, Katelin, Robert, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Church, Guilderland. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). The parish family of Christ the King will gather at 4:30 PM on Sunday at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 or to Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave., Westmere, NY 12203 in memory of Harry Dennis.
