Harry Lancaster Jewell, Jr.

Colonie- Harry Lancaster Jewell, Jr., 86, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Albany he was the son of the late Harry L. Jewell, Sr. and Helen Noxon Fuller Jewell. Harry worked for ten years delivering baked goods by horse and wagon for Freihoffer's Bakery. He went on to work for A & P Tea Co. for 25 years until his retirement. Harry was a very active member at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed photography as a hobby for many years. Harry is predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years Ruth Eleanor Helmuth Jewell.
Harry is survived by his son John Harry Jewell and wife Debbie of Altamont and his granddaughter Katie. He is also survived by his sister Alma Kern and husband Rev. Herb Kern of Long Island, two nephews, one niece and their families.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 63 Mountain View Avenue, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Harry Lancaster Jewell, Jr. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.newcomerfamily.com.
