COLONIE – Harry M. Draper, 87, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Saratoga Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Mt. Kisco, NY, he lived in the Capital District for the past 82 years.
Harry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carolyn, whom he would have been married to for 66 years.
He was the loved father of Jim (Joan) Draper of Corinth; grandfather of Jonathan (Elizabeth) Draper and Jill Draper; great-granddaughter Willa Draper, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Harry was a member of Colonie Elks Lodge 2192, Luzerne American Legion 862, and Colonie Village Seniors, as well as a parishioner of Pine Grove Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran and had retired from Valley Equipment after 38 years. In his free time, Harry enjoyed golf, bocce, pool and cards, but most of all, he loved his family.
Harry recently lived at Home of the Good Shepherd in Wilton, where he had made new friends and considered this his second home.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or Double H Ranch, 97 Hidden Valley Road, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 in Harry's name.
