GUILDERLAND - Harry Thomas King, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 24, 2011 at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Center.
Tom was born in Picture Rocks, PA and was the son of the late Joseph G. and Dorothy I. Fague King. He served in the US Navy on the USS Iowa during WWII. Tom was a sixty year resident of the Guilderland area. He was a salesman and route manager with Freihofer Baking Company for several years and a former member of the McKownville United Methodist Church. Tom was a longtime real estate broker and operated Tom King Realty in Albany for many years. He was very active in Capital District real estate sales and development. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved nature, the great outdoors and gardening.
Tom was predeceased in 2003 by his beloved wife of sixty years, Ellamae King. He is the cherished father of J. Eric King and his wife Kathy Thiel of Latham and Sue Ann King-Silhanek and her husband Frederick J. III of Houston, Texas. Tom is the devoted grandfather of Griffin King, Tyler King, Alexandra K Silhanek, Kara Kelleher and Shelby Kelleher. He is the great grandfather of Alan Keffner.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours. Internment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY-Patroon Land Farm Program, 965 Albany-Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110 or the Capital District Habitat for Humanity, 454 North Pearl Street, NY 12204-1511 in memory of Harry Thomas King.
