Hazel E.(Kross) Leland

GUILDERLAND – Hazel E. (Kross) Leland, 90, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at home. Born in Berne, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Rose Moore. She lived in Guilderland for all of her life. Hazel worked for General Electric Company for over forty years before retiring. She enjoyed her monthly luncheons with her co-workers after her retirement. Hazel loved traveling with her late husband, especially to Ireland, Alaska and California.

She is the beloved wife of the late William "Willie" Leland. She is the devoted mother of David (Laura-Jo) Kross and the late Walter Kross. Hazel is the cherished grandmother of Katie Jensen, Heather (Ron Surdam) Kross, Amber (Aaron) Hensley and Stephanie Kross. She is the adored great-grandmother of Daniel, Jordan, Cain and Maddie. Hazel is the loving sister of Ernest Moore, Jr., Betty Moore, Allyn (Concheta) Moore and the late Alfred and Richard Moore. Also surviving is her lifelong friend, Jean Regan, several nieces and nephews and her canine companion, "Coco." Hazel's family would like to thank the visiting nurses and caregivers, especially Donna and Lisa, for the compassion and care they gave to her. Hazel was very proud and loved to share with everyone she met that she "Couldn't believe that she was 90."


Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady City Mission, 425 Hamilton Street, Schenectady, NY 12305 in memory of Hazel E. Leland.
