Helen Evans

Helen Elizabeth "Beth" Evans, 81, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012. She was born in Troy, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Hope Collopy. She attended Lansingburg High School and was a graduate of the State University Institute at Utica, earning an Associate's Degree. Beth and her late husband, John "Jack" moved to St. Augustine Florida in 1988 and resided there until her husband's death in January 2012. Beth had an enthusiasm for life, commitment to family, and an infectious smile. She led her life with dignity and grace, always placing the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed Jitterbug dancing with her husband and had a passion for gardening. She was a faithful member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in St. Augustine, Florida. Beth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Beth is survived by her daughters Mary Cox (John), of Millersville, Maryland and Katherine Champagne (Ken), of Latham, NY and by her sons John D. Evans, Jr. (Donna) of Raleigh, NC, Kenneth Evans (Sandy), of Delmar, NY and David Evans (Jaime), of Albany, NY; her sister Alice Ellett, of Waterford, NY and her 11 grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Atria Shaker staff and residents for their love and support. Beth loved her final home and Atria family.
In addition to her parents, Beth was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, John "Jack" Evans on January 5, 2012. Together they built a loving home, filled with laughter and good times.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at St. Augustine Church, Troy, the very church she and Jack were married in.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205.
Interment will be at San Lorenzo Cemetery, St. Augustine, FL, with arrangements by St. Johns Family Funeral Home.
